Three times per year (around Memorial Day, 4th of July and mid-August), the AVON Lakes Village HOA samples 4 locations in AVON LAKE for e-coli count. The 4 locations are the Northwest corner of the lake (Avon Lake Ln and Mackwood), South Shore Park, Mackwood Park and the Northeast corner on the lake (East Shore and Mackwood).
An e-coli count of less that 300 is a passing count with no action necessary. Over 300 count would call for the closing of the beach. The samples were taken on May 14, 2025 and tested by the Oakland County Health Laboratory on May 19th.
The counts are as follows:
Northwest Corner- 3
South Shore Park- 3
Mackwood Park- 5
Northeast Corner- 5
These values show extremely low e-coli values and are well within the acceptable range.
